People Getting Jobs

i was in Manhattan yesterday. it rained like mad. New York on a rainy day is really like being in a rain forest. you can find refugee beneath the shade of some massive tree-like skyscaper, and race through the crowded streets soaking in all the filthy water. rain dampens the already grey collective spirits of new yorkers. the Yankees losing the world seires doesn't help much either to uplift a dampened City.

as i was waiting for my meeting, i went into a coffee shop just to collect my thoughts, get ready and caffienate. the latter didn't happen as the coffee shop had no fair-trade alternatives. :) at the door of the coffee shop was an attractive "we're hiring" sign which i did notice. i remember wondering what kind of people apply... and why?

i sat down and got to me laptop. behind me was an older man, probably in his early 40s. He was filling in a job application to work in the store. for some reason i became over come with emotion. seeing someone apply for a job is such a moving thing for me. hearing that some one has a job, or watching people at work really excites me. i watch people selling newspapers on the street, or delivering mail and i feel so good. i love knowing that people have jobs. knowing that they have a livelihood and that their families are better of. these people that evoke this emotion to within me could be mean, evil, crazy people. who knows? they could be wonderful, loving, family women and men. all that matters to me is to see people working, making a living and my desire to see that as a reality for more rather than less of our world deepens frurther.

weird fetish, eh? ;)
